Ingram Marketplace – Cloud Billing Studio for Connectwise & Autotask

FAQs for IDSync® Ingram Marketplace Billing Studio

Autotask & ConnectWise Integrations

  • What are the benefits? Why would a service provider want to use this software?
    • In Summary, fast, easy invoicing process that allows the service provider to get an invoice out the door and facilitate cash flow and customer satisfaction.
    • The invoicing of hosted applications involves a fair amount of effort and requires assembling the details involving seat counts, costs, date of provisioning, data entry etc.
    • This data needs to be correlated and matched against the specific customer agreements and contract records contained in the PSA systems so that license count and cost records from the Marketplace are matched against specific customer agreements in the service provider’s invoicing system.
    • In the past this involved a fair amount of analysis data lookup, data sorting and entry of spreadsheet data or from hard copy into their invoicing systems. No more, with the IDSync connector, the process can be completely automated and the service provider can focus on their invoicing process not the acquisition, sorting and entry of data that enables the invoicing.
  • What is the price of the IDSync Billing Studio software?
    • Ingram Micro currently charges $50/mo. USD for the software and service.
    • QuickStart services are available for $250 to train your staff and get you up and running in a precise way while avoiding the traditional learning curve associated with software deployment.
  • How do I get it installed? Is there training for the ConnectWise administrator? What about training for the person who actually does billing?
    • IDSync offers both software licenses and QuickStart™ services through Ingram Marketplace.
    • QuickStart™ service is designed to get a service provider setup and configured properly and quickly, including both the technical installation aspects and the billing aspects of the software.
    • This is not formal training, but rather hands-on working sessions with the service provider’s staff to accomplish two goals:
      • Fast and correct installation/configuration of the software
      • Knowledge transfer so the service provider can put the software to use immediately, the local engineer confident in their understanding of the software and enable the MSP to be independent of either Ingram or IDSync in their operations.
      • “How to Use” training for office staff.
    • The service is sold by Ingram and the QuickStart delivered by IDSync in a desktop sharing service that usually takes 2-3 working sessions to complete to have a fully functioning integration, knowledgeable operations staff and be ready for your next invoicing cycle.
  • Does the IDSync Billing Studio software work for Office 365?
    • Yes, it works for Office 365 too. Like other software licenses purchased through the Marketplace, license counts and associated cost are monitored in the Marketplace by IDSync. That billing data, like other subscription information is available on a scheduled or near real-time basis. The license count data simply flows in a single direction, from the Marketplace to the service provider’s PSA system.
  • Does it work for both cloud and on premise versions of the PSA software?
    • In the case of Autotask there is only a cloud version. In the case of ConnectWise there is both a cloud implementation and an on premise implementation of their software. IDSync works with all versions.
  • What are the technical requirements for installation?
    • The system is a SaaS application and entirely cloud based requiring the user to have internet access a modern browser and privileged access to both the PSA system and the Marketplace for purposes of updating the PSA system with license and cost data.
  • Does it take a lot of work?
    • No, only 2-3 hours in 1-2 working sessions to get you installed, configured, and tested to ensure it is working correctly. In some cases, for larger service providers it can take hours for the Marketplace records to link to the PSA records the first time. This setup requirement is a one-time event.
    • After setup, then the system just runs as a background service and updates the PSA records either as the Marketplace billing data changes and the Billing Studio will auto download the Marketplace data into the contract or agreement records.
  • Has the software been tested & certified?
    • The Billing Studio software package for both Autotask and ConnectWise was designed with input from both Ingram Micro, Autotask Product Management and ConnectWise engineering and has undergone repetitive testing process. The software was certified for use by Ingram Micro for use in their data center, by the vendor of their portal software, Odin Automation and by ConnectWise for their “Invent” program.
